by on Sep.10, 2011, under Gambling News

Join PokerStars now! 712 players lined up at the 10:00am CST starting gun for WCOOP Event #16 $215 buy-in PLO (6-max). And at 10:01am mtvdeuem of Slovenia decided ship the entire 5,000 chip starting stack to papillon of Malta exiting the tournament before most had even taken their seats. Quite the contrast from Event #15′s Razz tournament that just finished a mere eight hours ago when Fred_Brink outlasted a field of 799, including Team PokerStars pro George Danzer who finished 16th, the Razz contestants may have received a little more play for their buck than mtvdeuem did.

Of pubs, PokerStars promotions, and English eccentrics

by on Aug.24, 2011, under Gambling News

Join PokerStars now! On a recent holiday to cloudy Devon I visited a rather eccentric pub. It was originally the home of a seventeenth century card-playing gentleman, Squire Ley. George Ley had a sizeable gambling win in 1690 and decided to spend the cash building a house–we must assume that he had mastered ye olde nosebleed stakes! The house was designed as a shrine to card gaming and had four floors to represent the four suits, thirteen rooms for the number of cards in a suit, fifty-two windows, fifty-two stairs, and was built on a ground area measuring exactly fifty-two feet square.

Slovenian PokerStars qualifier leads after Day 1A

by on May.13, 2011, under Gambling News

Join PokerStars now! The Eureka Poker Tour rolled into Nova Gorica, Slovenia and 96 players in total took to the felt on Day 1A. Slovenia is the smallest country, in terms of population, to ever qualify for the Football World Cup and it looked as if they would be outnumbered here too. There were more Italians and Romanians and just as many Bulgarians as there were Slovenians playing today.
